Austrian member uses social media to inform citizens of his participation at European Week of Regions and Cities

Ralf Hachmeister, EU Local Councillors network member from Austria’s Deutsch-Wagram, represented his municipality at the 22nd European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. The event, initiated by the Committee of the Regions, brought together representatives at local, regional, national and EU level. The conference provided a platform for regions, EU institutions and economic players to discuss local and European challenges together.

The Austrian councillor took the trip to Brussels as an opportunity to provide insight into the procedures and decision-making processes in Brussels, thus making the EU more transparent and tangible for citizens of his village. For this purpose, he used his social media profile. He praised the inspiring cooperation and emphasized the importance of the mission to bring Europe into the communities.

“I was particularly pleased with the exchange between the individual representatives of the communities. The different perspectives and approaches enrich our work enormously,” he noted.
