BELC Brussels’ visits highlight importance of getting proper info to locals

Climate change, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the Erasmus programme were among the topics discussed in Brussels during the visit of Jean-François Rochedreux, the mayor of Saliès and a BELC member. In an interview with local newspaper La Dépêche, he spoke of his visit to the capital of Europe with fellow local councillors from various regions of France—at the invitation of the European Commission.

"These two days helped me to understand European interests and the financing of several projects," he stated, explaining his aim of obtaining reliable information and properly informing the municipal council and local citizens.

The BELC member clarified that such Brussels meetings are a concrete example of one of the network’s advantages: providing information right from the source, exchanging views with experts, and gaining a better understanding of how Europe works and what is at stake.
