BELC member’s participation at Europe Direct Salerno events

BELC member Claudio Petrozzelli, local councillor of the municipality of Cesinali in the Campania region of Italy took part in two prominent initiatives organised by Europe Direct Salerno. These sessions were dedicated to encouraging active participation in the upcoming European elections and promoting the BELC network.

The first event, titled ‘Elezioni europee 2024’ took place in Salerno on March 4th and was dedicated to students of the Political Science and Communication faculties. On this occasion, Mr. Petrozzelli, together with Vincenzo Loia, Rector of the University of Salerno; Virgilio D’Antonio, DISPC Director; Francesco Piemonte, Head of Europe Direct Salerno and journalist Maria Carla Ciancio, discussed the importance of civic participation in the European elections, highlighting the crucial role European citizens play in shaping the policies and the Union’s future.

The second event was held in Amalfi on March 22nd and was addressed to several representatives of local regional forums. Mr. Petrozzelli raised awareness of the importance of the BELC network and emphasized active engagement in the European democratic processes, namely encouraging various local youth forums to motivate young people to participate in the European elections.

These initiatives represented a valuable occasions for citizens to both deepen their understanding of the EU and strengthen their voice in Europe.
