In the Spanish BELC partner city of Sant Boi de Llobregat, in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia, over thirty individuals engaged in a dynamic debate on the future of Europe on May 17, 2024. The event featured socially and politically active speakers, such as Joaquim Millan, director of Eurolocal and member of the European Movement; Ada Font Burdoy, a political scientist and law student affiliated with Debat.org; and Marina Muñoz Viana, an expert in International Relations and European Union projects. Emilio Morillas, BELC councilor of Sant Boi de Llobregat also attended and was involved in the event.

The vibrant discussion provided a platform for young, active, and committed Europeans to exchange ideas, opinions, and concerns, resulting in valuable insights and reflections. Speakers emphasized that only through active participation citizens can influence the shaping of the EU. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining a critical perspective to ensure the EU evolves in a manner that reflects the needs and aspirations of its people. This call to action underscores the role of citizen engagement in driving the Union towards greater inclusivity and effectiveness.

The debate also highlighted the shared values and goals that unify Europeans, despite their cultural differences.
