On May 20, 2024, the Polish BELC partner city of Minsk Mazowiecki hosted a meeting on the 20th anniversary of Poland's presence in the EU and the 30th anniversary of the EU single market.

Guests included Rafal Rudnicki, head of the communications team at the EC Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises; Witold Naturski, director of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Poland; and Bartlomiej Balcerzyk, director of the European Commission in Poland. They spoke about the benefits and challenges of the single market and competition, Poland's contribution to the EU economy and the various gains from Poland’s membership in the EU. The speakers also emphasized the European elections on June 9.

The debate took place at the Municipal House of Culture in Minsk Mazowiecki and was well attended by representatives of Minsk’s public institutions as well as students of local schools. Such meetings broaden knowledge and allow for more informed  democraticchoices for citizens.
