On 8 June 2024, just one day before the European elections, the Europe Festival took place in Kurt-Schumacher-Platz in the town of Gronau, in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region. The event was organised by the Ministry for Regional and European Affairs, as well as associations and cooperation partners and the aim was simply to combine political content with entertainment.
Gronau’s local councillor and BELC member, Susanne Reinhoffer was also present at this festival with an information stand to represent the network and, above all, to motivate people to vote. As a BELC member, Ms. Reinhoffer sees her role in the community primarily as a point of contact: "We can't solve problems, but we have contacts who can help find solutions," she said.
Deputy Mayor, Brigit Tegemeyer also emphasised at the event how important it is to vote, as the future of Europe depends on people’s active participation at the European elections.
The event in Gronau was a success, attracting hundreds of visitors, including many young people, who showed great interest in Europe and the elections.
