Greece’s Agia municipality, a BELC partner, hosted final-year students at townhall ahead of European elections

Over 50 final-year students of the General High School of Greece’s Agia visited the townhall on 15 April, 2024, at the invitation of the Mayor of Agia, Mr. Antonis Gountaras and Ms. Georgia Potoula, Deputy Mayor of Education, Sports, Youth, Volunteerism and Culture, who is also a BELC member.

The purpose of the visit was to inform students about their right and obligation to vote at the European elections on 9 June 2024. The students, accompanied by their teachers, Mr. Nikolaos Davas and Mr. Andromache Tsiatsiou, brought a list of questions and concerns regarding the upcoming elections. Both the mayor and Ms. Potoula discussed students’ concerns and answered their questions. They explained that centres of decision-making are in Brussels and it is so important that they participate in the European elections. They discussed the importance of cooperation between the school and the local authorities, and the meeting was concluded in a pleasant atmosphere.
