Slovakian partner municipality, Košice engaged its community in EU Education Week

An educational initiative, titled "EdUtajner" took place in the Košice-Dargovských Hrdinov city district between 27-31 May, 2024, focusing on various European Union topics.

Organised in cooperation with BELC member Dominik Babušík, who is mayor of Košice Dargovských Hrdinov district, and Mr. Štefan Zachariáš, representing EUROPE DIRECT Košice, this initiative aimed to enhance public understanding of the EU through engaging and educational activities. The interactive sessions, including a blind map and matching cities to countries, were designed to educate young participants about Slovakia's membership in the European Union and the EU's impact on their daily life.

The event saw participation from two high schools and five elementary schools of the district with approximately 400 students involved throughout the week. On Friday, 31 May, 2024, EdUtajner opened to the general public at the children's traffic playground between Zupkova and Krosnianska streets.

The programme was enjoyed by all visitors, young and old, as it was a fun and informative way for the community to learn more about the European Union and its significance for citizens, who were encouraged to practice their democratic right and take part in the European elections.
