The City Council of Segovia, represented by Rosalía Serrano, member of the EU Local Councillors network, launched a new edition of the ‘Segovia European City’ drawing contest through EUROPE DIRECT Segovia to engage local youth in learning about the European Union's objectives and values. The winning entries will be featured in the 2025 ‘Segovia European City’ calendar, spreading awareness of these values throughout the community. This initiative aims to instill EU priorities in young participants by encouraging creative representations of environmental protection, digital transformation, and core European values, like peace, democracy, and equality.
The contest was open to children and teens between ages 3 and 17, divided into three age categories. Young artists could participate individually or through their schools, which could submit up to 10 drawings per category. Entries were accepted at the Segovia City Council until October 25. For school submissions, EUROPE DIRECT Segovia team collected the artwork directly from the institutions, supporting broad participation. The selection panel, composed of City Council staff, assessed the drawings based on originality, creativity, and alignment with EU themes.
Winning drawings will be featured in the 2025 calendar, which EUROPE DIRECT Segovia center will distribute free of charge throughout the city. Additionally, winners will receive a gift from the Segovia City Council, and their artwork will be displayed on the city’s website. This initiative reflects Segovia's commitment to fostering European values among its youngest residents through creative expression and public recognition.
