The Municipality of Argos-Mycenae, that recently joined the BELC network, participated in the European Mobility Week for the first time with its ‘Moving Sustainably’ event on 17 September, 2024.
BELC member Argyropoulou Anastasia, Deputy Mayor, in charge of the recycling and environmental innovation portfolio at the Municipality of Argos-Mycenae, was responsible for the implementation of the action. Organised in collaboration with EUROPE DIRECT Peloponnese, the Regional Federation of People with Disabilities of the Peloponnese, the Argos Traffic Department, supported by numerous institutions, organisations, and volunteers, the event aimed to promote sustainable mobility in Argos.
This informative and interactive event that took place in the city centre, welcomed participants, primarily secondary school students, who began with a briefing on the purpose and significance of the European Mobility Week. Then they engaged in lessons on traffic education and took part in an unusual walk through the city centre, using wheelchairs and white canes to better understand mobility challenges.
Argolida24, a regional website also covered the event and there is a short film about the activities as well.
