Mińsk Mazowiecki was once again a place where European values were discussed, as EUROPE DIRECT Mińsk Mazowiecki hosted the launch of the new edition of the European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) and the European School Clubs Network on 10 December, 2024. The event brought together guests, incuding young people and teachers, to celebrate the European community involvement.
The EPAS programme is an initiative of the European Parliament aimed at spreading knowledge of European parliamentary democracy and developing skills needed for dialogue and cooperation.
„Through the programme, young people learn to think critically, counter disinformation and discover how local actions can influence global change. The democracy we acquire locally, builds democracy on a global scale," underlined Katarzyna Laziuk, Deputy Mayor and member of the EU Local Councillors network in her speech as she emphasized community involvement.
During the event there were words of praise for the city as a leader in European education in Poland. Łukasz Krawczyński from the Geremek Foundation pointed out: "Minsk Mazowiecki is a bright spot on the map of Poland, where many pro-European activities are carried out, especially those aimed at young people.
Thanks to the EUROPE DIRECT Mińsk Mazowiecki centre, many schools participate in the EPAS programme, thus the city became a place where young people learn to build a future, based on cooperation and respect.
During the ceremony, the Schuman Foundation, the European Commission’s Representation in Poland, as well as the Prime Minister's Office recognised the efforts of young people and teachers who are passionately involved in pro-European activities. Special thanks went to Katarzyna Trojanek, Head of EUROPE DIRECT Minsk Mazowiecki Point, without whose commitment these activities would not have been possible.
