Why not talking about Europe through the sound of music? That was the original idea put forward by the municipality of Mertzig in Luxembourg, a partner of the BELC network. They organised a classical music concert with pieces from all over Europe, including arias by British-born German composer Georg Friedich Händel; Italian composers Baldassare Galuppi and Antonio Vivaldi, as well as German Georg Philipp Telemann.
The concert was presented by the AD LIBITUM Ensemble, as part of Europe Day celebrations on 9 May 2024. It was free and open to all and around a hundred people attended it in the beautiful Church of Mertzig.
Mayor Mike Poiré opened the event with a speech, putting an emphasis on the importance of European values and called everyone to vote at the European elections on 9 June.
