Local councillor Janneke Groote of Ostrhauderfehn proudly presented the municipality’s membership to the BELC initiative. She and Mayor Günter Harders showed the EU flag and the certificate in the photo so that citizens in the whole region are made aware of the BELC initiative.
The article, along with the image, was particularly successful in communicating BELC and its objectives in an easy-to-understand style. The post introduced Janneke Groote and her responsibilities as a new BELC member. She has been a member of the municipal council since 2016 and a committed council chairwoman since 2019.
"I think it is great to shape our town and make it fit for the future with the help of BELC,” she explained.
As a BELC member, she will be responsible for passing on knowledge, experience and contacts from the EU to citizens. At the same time, she will also bring local concerns to the attention of European political players.
In the near future, the municipality of Ostrhauderfehn will present other exciting ideas to spread the word about BELC and bring the European Union closer to citizens.
